Immunizations

Vaccines are administered at the Jackson County Health Department during Nursing Clinic Hours - Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. During high vaccination times, we will schedule evening clinics as deemed necessary (i.e. influenza season and back to school shots). While we encourage residents to schedule an appointment for prompt service, the clinic is open to walk-ins. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. It is recommended, but not required, that parents bring their child's immunization record so that the proper vaccinations can be administered. The Jackson County Health Department utilizes the Ohio Statewide Immunization Information System to access and store immunization records.

Disease prevention is a priority of public health. Our Nursing Division works to create a healthy community through the control of vaccine preventable diseases. Vaccines provide an important protection against vaccine preventable infectious diseases that were once common, and now very rare in the United States.

The Jackson County Health Department bills most insurances for vaccinations. Vaccines For Children (VFC) is a program through the Ohio Department of Health that provides vaccines to children without insurance. No person shall be denied the vaccines that are provided by the Ohio Department of Health for failure to pay an administration fee.

You can get your yearly TB skin test at the Jackson County Health Department! These tests are administered during Nursing Clinic Hours on Mondays and Wednesdays. Patients must return to the health department after 48 hours (on Wednesday or Friday) during Nursing Clinic Hours to have the test read by a Nurse. The health department bills accepted insurance providers when possible, and does not require any kind of copayment.
